What can I expect out of this qualification?
Graduates with a Bachelor of Popular Music from Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington will demonstrate: understanding of popular music from critical, creative, and sociocultural perspectives; imagination, originality and technical ability in the creation of sound and music; reflexivity concerning the creation, critical assessment, and dissemination of popular music; responsiveness to the intersection of sociocultural, historical, and political issues in popular music, including in the context of Aotearoa and in relation to the creative industries; awareness of the interdependence of technology, creativity, and social factors in popular music; ability to communicate effectively; capability to work independently and collaboratively in creative and other contexts.

Minimum requirements
A New Zealand university entrance qualification or equivalent will be required for all majors. No prior formal study of music is required, however, entry to the Songwriting major will require a portfolio of 3-4 original songs, in the form of recordings.
