About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
Bachelor of Environment and Society (BEnvSoc) graduates will have the skills and understanding to address pressing local and global environmental issues, grounded in an appreciation of their place in Aotearoa New Zealand. They will have a broad interdisciplinary foundation spanning from earth systems to equity and social change, fostering an understanding of relationships between people and their environments. Graduates will understand the relationships between environmental values, ethics, knowledge and governance and appreciate how Te Tiriti o Waitangi and matauranga Maori can underpin environmental decision-making in Aotearoa. Through completion of a specialised major, graduates will have expert knowledge and skills grounded in these perspectives. BEnvSoc graduates will possess strong critical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills, capable of analysing, evaluating, and communicating complex real-world issues. They will bring familiarity with a variety of ways of approaching environmental issues and the capability of applying methods appropriate to their major's discipline, working collaboratively in teams, and communicating insights for a range of audiences.
