About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
Graduates will have advanced knowledge and understanding of aspects of the political science discipline, including theoretical issues. They will be able to evaluate and analyse findings and discussions in the political science literature, conceptualise problems in political analysis and political practice and be able to conduct small-scale, independent research on topics in political science. Graduates will be qualified for careers in public affairs including politics, the civil service, think tanks, lobbying and civil society organisations. Some graduates may be able to continue to the Master of Political Science (MPols, VI001S) or a research-based masters degree. The PGDipPols also acts as a step-off qualification for students unable to complete the MPols.

Minimum requirements
Completed a Bachelor s degree or a Graduate Diploma in Political Science, International Relations or Public Policy or a relevant area with at least a B grade average in 60 points of 300-level courses in the majoring subject or relevant area of study (or extensive practical, professional, or scholarly experience that provides an equivalent level of preparation); and been accepted by the Head of School as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study.
