Entry requirements
Academic Entry requirements:
NCEA Level 2*, and
- A minimum total of 48 credits at level 2 in four subjects including at least 12 credits in mathematics (preferably achievement standards in algebra, calculus or trigonometry), or
- equivalent qualifications (e.g., International Baccalaureate or Cambridge), or
- equivalent credits from appropriate trades training and/or demonstrated skills and experience.
*Including a minimum of 10 literacy credits at level 1 or higher (for those who achieved NCEA Level 2 before 2013).
English Language Entry Requirements:
In addition to meeting the minimum entry criteria, those applicants for whom English is a second language must meet the IELTS overall language requirement:
- Overall Band Score (Academic) of 6.0 IELTS, with no individual score less than 5.5, or equivalent.
There are no mandatory prerequisites for entry into this qualification.

The purpose of this micro-credential is to give students an understanding of anatomy and physiology and other scientific principles relevant to their work as a clinical engineer.
The aim of this micro-credential is to provide learners with an understanding of anatomy and physiology and other scientific principles relevant to their work in Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand and other health organisations.
The target market for this micro-credential are those working with clinical equipment in a hospital setting, in manufacturing or in supply chain management in Aotearoa New Zealand who want to expand their knowledge and skills to become clinical engineering technicians. In addition, this micro-credential can be completed by learners who have completed the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering [Electronics] who have decided to expand their knowledge into the field of clinical engineering.
