Entry requirements

Academic admission
To be admitted to this micro-credential, all applicants must be at least 18
years of age on the date of the micro-credential commencement for the semester in which they wish to enrol and meet the following requirements:

A NZQA recognised degree;

Or

The ability to demonstrate competencies equivalent to a graduate from the above qualification based on the Special and Discretionary admission provisions.

Special and Discretionary admission
Special and Discretionary admission options are also available as outlined in Section 2.9 of Te Kawa Maiorooro | Educational Regulatory Framework
In assessing whether to grant special or discretionary admission, the primary focus will be on the applicant's ability to demonstrate a likelihood of succeeding in the micro-credential.
All decisions will be made at the discretion of a Programme Committee.

About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential aims to provide an accelerated pathway to employment by enhancing Aotearoa's Artificial Intelligence (AI) talent and capability. Ākonga will gain practical experience applying AI insights to real-world organisational challenges, developing and refining AI solutions based on stakeholder feedback. Ākonga is exposed to various methodologies and design thinking to develop capability in using Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, they will develop presentation and communication skills to effectively present their AI solutions to relevant stakeholders, simulating real-world outcomes. This exposes ākonga to the industry and provides them with experience using Artificial Intelligence to address the organisational challenge. In turn, this micro-credential will empower Ākonga to reflect on their learning, supporting future career growth in AI.
