What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide a formal credential to recognise the skills and knowledge attained by learners/ākonga as they enter leadership roles across a range of People, Food and Fibre industries in Aotearoa New Zealand. The micro-credential provides a training scaffold to support and upskill potential, new, or existing leaders, including seasonal workers and career changers, and workers in supporting industries, into leadership roles.

This micro-credential responds to the urgent need to increase the number of emerging leaders in People, Food and Fibre industries through a focused component on self-leadership, ensuring learners/ākonga are able to develop strategies for supporting personal wellbeing and resilience, including those caused by seasonal and environmental stressors. In addition, employees and learners will develop interpersonal skills and engagement strategies, complying with organisational policies and procedures, to effectively lead people.

Minimum requirements

It is expected that learners/akonga will be engaged in an emerging leadership role that will allow the learning outcomes of the micro-credential to be met. The provider may be able to assist with placement for those not already in employment or in leadership roles. Literacy and numeracy Learners/akonga require sufficient levels of literacy and numeracy to allow them to read and understand workplace documents, complete necessary calculations, and complete assessments tasks. Providers will support learners/akonga during delivery to ensure they have the level of literacy and numeracy required.
