Entry requirements
· Students must be 18 years of age or over.
· Students should have achieved the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) or at least 5 years of work experience in a caregiving role in a health, disability, and aged support setting.
· Students must be employed in a health assistant or similar role with the ability to meet required practical hours supporting people with dementia. Evidence of employment is to be provided during enrolment.
· Undergo Police Vetting.
· There may be further restrictions when this course is offered under a Tertiary Education Commission Contract.

What can I expect out of this qualification?
This Micro-credential is designed for those working in dementia care. The micro-credential aims to provide in-depth knowledge in different types of dementia, its causes, and its effects on the clients and their families. Learners will gain
specialist skills in applying person-centered approaches to care and support; using supportive communication strategies to interact with clients and their families; identifying and using strategies to manage challenging behaviours.
