Key Information for Students

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

The entry requirements for the PLSC are set by the New Zealand Council of Legal Education (NZCLE), and are set out in Regulation 3 of the Professional Legal Studies Regulations 2004. As a professional qualification required for entry to practice as a lawyer, the entry criteria state that person is only eligible to undertake the PLSC if they have completed an LLB at a New Zealand University. If a person has an overseas legal qualification, they must apply first to the NZCLE to determine which legal education they must complete before seeking admission to the bar. In the case of a person with an overseas legal qualification, the College can only admit them to the course if they have a letter from the NZCLE stating they have completed all other educational requirements.
