Entry requirements

Learners must have completed unit standard 340, Demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices in the print industry, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

Industry requires learners are working in a role with an industry employer who has a workplace training agreement to deliver this micro-credential.

Pre-enrolment
- Learners must be able to access a workplace for work-based training. The provider may be able to assist with placement for those not already employed.
- A colour vision test is recommended but not compulsory. However, if learners intend to progress to the New Zealand Certificate in Print (Level 4) [Ref: 3199] they will be required to undergo a mandatory colour vision test.

Accessibility
- Providers will ensure meaningful engagement with a variety of learners/ākonga and support organisations for any disability for learners/ākonga who can still meet the physical demands of a guillotine operator role.

Language proficiency
- There are no specific expectations for literacy requirements over the entry expectations for language proficiency for a level 3 award or qualification.
- Providers will support ākonga/learners during delivery to ensure they have the level of language proficiency or literacy required.

About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide a credential for print assistants already working in the print industry, those who are new to the industry, and to encourage school leavers into the industry. This micro-credential can be achieved in either reel-fed, sheet-fed or screen printing processes.

This micro-credential addresses a need for entry level training in addition to the provision of different pathways into the print industry, and may lead to further qualifications in print.
