What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the pork industry with individuals who have the knowledge and skills to manage a production section on a pig farm.
The qualification contains an optional strand to recognise the skills and knowledge required to manage a production plan for a pig farm.
Graduates will benefit from having pig husbandry and farm management knowledge which will support the industry to be internationally competitive and enhance their own employment opportunities in key management roles across a pig farm and throughout the pork industry.
The community will benefit by having trained people who are competent in operating a pig farm in an efficient and sustainable manner to maximise pork production.
Graduates will be capable of working in a self-managed capacity and may have some responsibility for the performance of others.
