Entry requirements
All prospective students must provide the following: * a short written statement that outlines who you are and why you want to enrol in the programme, and an indication of your creative abilities in the form of two A4 pieces of photography, design, art (or photographs of) or electronic media such as a video or interactive file. For those under 20 years: Under 20 years of age applicants: o NCEA Level 3 o Three subjects at level 3 or above made up of: * 14 credits each in three approved subjects o Literacy - 10 credits at level 2 or above made up of: * 5 credits in reading * 5 credits in writing o Numeracy - 10 credits at level 1 or above made up of * Achievement standards--specified achievement standards through a range of subjects, or * Unit standards, a package of three numeracy unit standards: 26623, 26626, 26627 (all three required) OR Equivalent academic achievement OR On a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean OR Provisional enrolment. Note: Provisional enrolment is defined by NZQA as being Discretionary Entrance and includes the following clauses: Discretionary enrolment may be granted to those applicants under the age of 20 who: * are New Zealand or Australian citizens and permanent residents under 20 years of age. * must have a minimum of 14 credits in an approved subject at Level 2 towards NCEA. * must also have met the literacy and numeracy standards required for University Entrance

What can I expect out of this qualification?
The programme aims to prepare students for professional careers within those creative industries that contribute to contemporary visual culture. Visual culture is "an umbrella term to incorporate all visual artefacts through which we make meaning" (Duncum, 2001, p 16).
