Entry requirements
It is recommended candidates hold:
- the New Zealand Certificate in Meat Processing (Animal Product Examination) (Level 4) with an optional strand in Ante-Mortem [Ref: 3672]
- or the New Zealand Certificate in Meat Processing (Level 4) with strands in Boning Operations, Grading, Meat Quality, Rendering, Slaughter Floor Operations, Dressing Operations, and Optimising Meat Yields (Level 4) [Ref: 2496],
- or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.
About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide experienced employees for the meat processing sector who are able to work as animal product examiners either:
- in a supervisory capacity in meat processing operations, or
- supervising company meat inspectors.
This qualification will ensure the maintenance of standards in animal product examination and verification that can provide domestic and international markets with confidence in a quality range of meat products.
