About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification will provide Aotearoa New Zealand with graduates who have the skills and knowledge to operate under indirect supervision to deliver exercise instruction for individuals within the general population.
Graduates will operate within a framework of health and wellness in relation to individual, group or community needs and contribute to the cultural, social and economic wellbeing of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Graduates can adapt and deliver appropriate exercise programmes and will have knowledge of exercise training principles and concepts.
Graduates will be eligible to register with the New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals
Key Information for Students
Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
NZ Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (L3), or NCEA Level 1, or equivalent, or demonstrated interest in the industry and evidence of the potential to succeed. All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language fluency prior to acceptance in the programme. For international students wishing to enrol in the NZ Certificate in Exercise (L4), ways in which English language fluency may be demonstrated include the following: * successful study of a programme in which English was the language of instruction (subject to the conditions in EIT's Database for English Language Proficiency (DELP)) * completion of a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 3 with Academic or Applied endorsement) * IELTS Academic score of 5.5, with no band score lower than 5, achieved in a single test within the two years preceding enrolment * accepted international equivalents to the above IELTS scores (see equivalency tables in the DELP). All applicants will be required to complete a Police Vetting Service Request and Consent form. Any concerns arising from the Police check will be referred to the Programme Coordinator and/or Head of School for consideration regarding the applicant's admission. A candidate who is 20 years of age or more and does not meet the academic entry requirements may be granted entry to the programme on the basis of a portfolio of evidence of their ability to succeed on the programme and subject to an interview
