What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of the Bachelor of Software Engineering - Creative is to provide a targeted programme of study in a clearly defined sub-sector of the ICT industry to generate creative, adaptive, and diverse software specialists, who have acquired holistic understanding of the software development lifecycle. This is achieved through consistent collaborative investigation and learning in integrated, transdisciplinary teams to produce high quality, user-centric software products.
A fundamental purpose of this degree is to fill a skill gap in the software development sector, through development of graduates who are commercially and creatively driven to use their expertise to increase New Zealand's standing on the global software stage.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Entry requirements apply regardless of whether the programme is offered on a full-time or part-time basis. For students to be eligible for entry into the programme, the following criteria must be met: English language requirements International students who have English as a Second or Other Language, must have within the preceding two years, achieved or surpassed at least one of the English proficiency outcomes listed below: Academic IELTS test: Score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5 TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE) TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 79 or higher (with a writing score of 20) University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations: FCE or CAE with a score of 52 or higher NZCEL: Level 4 with the Academic endorsement General admission category To be considered for general admission, applicants must: Hold NCEA University Entrance or equivalent CIE/18 grades; or An appropriate qualification from an overseas secondary school or tertiary institution, deemed by AMES/ACNZ to be sufficient for admission into a Bachelor programme. Discretionary admission category Applicants who do not meet requirements for general admission, and are at least 16 and under the age of 20, may apply for discretionary admission. Discretionary admission applicants should: have reached a significant level of achievement in year 12, or; have successfully completed a relevant foundation programme or tertiary qualification all portfolios should show significant art and design skills and experience. Special admission category Applicants who do not meet requirements for general admission, are age 20 or more, are New Zealand residents or permanent residents, and have relevant experience and skills may apply for special admission. The application must be supported by: a professional portfolio, and/or; documented industry experience.
