Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
To enrol in this programme, a potential akonga must meet all enrolment requirements, including Te Wananga o Aotearoa Terms and Conditions of Enrolment and any relevant conditions specified by the Ministry of Education, the Education Act 1989 and the Tertiary Commission. For example: Akonga must be at least 16 years of age (unless an exemption from attending school has been granted) at the commencement of the programme. An exemption from attending school may be granted by a person designated under section 21 or 26 of the Education Act 1989, by a school principal from a school in which the prospective akonga is registered, or by the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Education. Akonga must be New Zealand citizens (or citizens of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent residents. Akonga are encouraged to maintain manageable Study Loads in terms of their enrolment. Consequently, akonga should only enrol in one full time programme at a time and will only be enrolled in an additional part-time programme if the academic workload has been considered achievable. Concurrent enrolment must be approved by Te Rautiaki Matauranga. Selection Tool Akonga must also meet the following programme specific requirements: Have successfully completed a te reo Matauranga Maori qualification at Level 2 Attended an interview (or information hui) with a kaiako OR Demonstrate existing te reo skill and knowledge at level 2, and Attend an interview, or information hui, with a kaiako. Certificate in Te Ara Reo Maori Level 4 Akonga must also meet the following programme specific requirements: ? Have successfully completed a te reo Matauranga Maori qualification at Level 3 Or ? Attend an information sharing information with a kaiako to determine level of te reo Maori
