About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who can understand and support the learning and development of individuals with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) in a range of institutional and community settings.
This qualification is for teacher aides, parents and caregivers, employers, educators, and professionals in SLD-related fields.
Graduates will work in partnership with individuals and whānau, and collaborate with the teams around them, under the guidance of an SLD professional or teacher.

Minimum requirements
Akonga must: Academic: * Hold a qualification at Level 2 NZQF or equivalent. English Language: * International students: General or Academic IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5, or equivalent Internationally Recognised English Proficiency test. * Domestic applicants with English as second language may need to demonstrate sufficiency in English language via Internal Evaluation Test.
