What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is for ākonga/learners who are seeking specialised technical skills and conceptual knowledge in arts, crafts or design creative practice.
A range of industries will benefit from graduates who possess specialised arts, crafts or design creative capabilities.
Graduates will be able to operate independently in dynamic creative and commercial environments.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Applicants under the age of 20: A minimum of 42 credits at Level 3 or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF), including at least 14 credits at NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent) in each of two subjects, of which at least one relates to English; and at least one is from the subject list below; with a further 14 credits at Level 3 or higher taken from no more than two additional domains on the NZQF. Painting (Visual Art), Design (Visual Art), Photography (Visual Art), Sculpture (Visual Art), Printmaking (Visual Art), Graphics (Technology),,Design (Technology), Textiles (Technology), Media Studies, Drama, Materials Technology, Digital Technology, English, History, Social Sciences, Art History Or Successful completion of a recognised art/media foundation programme or equivalent, for example the New Zealand Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 4) Applicants over the age of 20: No academic qualifications are required. All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students whose first language is not English should have: * An international English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 6.0 (with at least 5.5 in each band) issued within the last two years, or A qualification considered to be equivalent to the above. An initial discussion with the Head of Department or delegate will be required to assess applicants' individual motivation, commitment to, and suitability for the Programme. Computer literacy: A sufficient level of computer literacy is required. Portfolio: All applicants must submit a portfolio of work showing ability in arts and design.
