About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have attained a broad understanding of the core concepts and practical skills in Information Technology (IT), can apply the fundamentals of current and emerging concepts and practice in IT, and are able to proceed to further IT-related study.
As an emerging IT professional, graduates will be aware of appropriate professional practice, and work both as part of a team and independently, under broad supervision.
Graduates of this qualification will have the IT skills that will enable them to contribute to society, supporting digital proficiency and capability in a range of community and voluntary areas.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
The programme is only open to domestic learners. Applicants must be 17 years of age or over and will be eligible on the basis of meeting the requirements below. Applicants must have: NCEA Level 2 or Level 3 (with University Entrance); or provide evidence of secondary school achievement at an equivalent level; or a qualification in Computing, Information Technology or Digital Technology at Level 3 or 4; or an equivalent qualification in Computing, Information Technology or Digital Technology. All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language proficiency prior to being accepted into the programme.
