About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the Fire Protection industry and the Building Sector with competent inspectors of existing buildings and/or buildings under construction, in relation to passive fire protection for new and/ or existing installations.
Graduates will work independently in accordance with the New Zealand Building Act, New Zealand Building Code, and regulations.
This qualification aims to benefit building owners and occupiers, constructors, the insurance sector, and the general public by providing the skills required to become an inspector (i.e. Independent Qualified Person (IQPs)) who will be responsible for ensuring passive fire protection systems are compliant with the relevant Building Consent and Compliance Schedule.
The qualification strands allow specialisation.
