Entry requirements

Candidates for this qualification require an Electrical Workers' Registration Board (EWRB) Trainee Limited Certificate when commencing programmes, for their training, assessment and experience to be accepted by the EWRB for registration as a cable jointer.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the electricity supply industry with people who have sufficient knowledge, practical skills and experience to undertake cable jointing on cables up to 22kV.

Graduates will be able to work to industry standards, taking responsibility for their own work, and be capable of working independently, whilst ensuring safety.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to apply to the Electrical Workers' Registration Board for registration as a cable jointer.

The qualification includes an optional strand for people who carry out cable jointing on power cables up to and including 33kV.
