What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the tourism industry with individuals who will be equipped to design and implement strategic business initiatives, lead diverse teams, and drive innovation.

Graduates will have specialised expertise in sustainable business development, advanced marketing strategies and operational leadership.

The qualification will benefit the community by enriching Aotearoa New Zealand's tourism visitor experiences and contributing to sustainable and regenerative tourism bringing benefits to the country.

Graduates will be able to deliver a high-quality visitor experience that reflects the cultural heritage of Aotearoa New Zealand and do so across diverse organisations in the tourism and travel industries. They will serve as mentors and leaders, fostering talent development and enhancing team performance within their organisations.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants under 20 years should be a minimum of 18 years of age and have completed the New Zealand Diploma in Tourism and Travel (Level 5) or equivalent. Applicants over 20 years must demonstrate the ability to succeed in the programme by holding previous Tourism or Travel qualifications, or 2 years of employment in the tourism (or related sector) at entry-level management positions or higher. Applicants for who English is not a first language must have IELTS score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5 or an accepted international equivalence.
