What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is:
- To provide competent employees for the hospitality sector who are able to work as chefs in intermediate positions producing complex dishes in a commercial kitchen.
- To provide a credential for those employed as chefs in intermediate positions, that will enhance their employment opportunities in a commercial kitchen across the hospitality sector.
- To establish standards of professional practice for complex cookery that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.
Graduates will be able to operate in a commercial kitchen as chefs in an intermediate position producing complex dishes.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Domestic applicants must be: * Sufficiently competent in numeracy and literacy to be able to complete the programme * Physically able to complete the work * Minimum of 16 years of age * An interview is required upon application for the programme. * New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident (funding requirement) International students must be: * 18 years or older * have an IELTS (Academic) score of at least 5, with no band score lower than 5.5 OR alternative NZQA approved proficiency outcomes for entry at level 3 OR an equivalent score on the Ignite English Language Entry Assessment in compliance with Rule 18 requirements.
